Celebrate Recovery

Celebrate Recovery is a 12-step recovery ministry that is 1) church-based and 2) Christ-centered.  Jesus is the higher power and we are all in need of recovery.  Celebrate Recovery is a ministry that offers healing for anyone with a hurt, hang-up, or destructive habit.  That covers all of us!

If all your pursuits to find life and to ease your pain have led to more pain and emptiness, maybe it's time to consider something else.  Join us as together we pursue real life in Jesus Christ and celebrate the recovery only He can bring through His people and His word.

Great Food For All

In a time when finances can be difficult, we believe this is a small way we can help people make ends meet.  GFFA provides a "basic box," roughly $75 of food (and quality food, at that!), for $30.  There is also opportunity to buy additional items along with the basic box.  Whether you are wanting to help a family in need or looking to make your income go a little futher, this is a great opportunity to buy good food at significantly discounted prices.  We take orders three weeks every month, and then the food is to be picked up at our church building (directions) one Saturday each month.  There is no limit to the number of boxes you can buy, so come by our office now and place an order.  For more information on GFFA, visit their website.

Christian Neighbor Program (CNP)

Christian Neighbor has been our primary benevolence ministry since the 70's.  This ministry is responsible for assessing a variety of requests and financially assisting those in need, both inside our church family and within our community.  This includes receiving calls on our Christian Neighbor phone line (889-9796) and following up.  Messages are checked and followed up every Tuesday and Thursday morning.  Such needs may include assistance with food, rent/utilities, referral services, financial counseling, etc.  If you need assistance or know of someone who does, please call 889-9796.

Crosslines

Many volunteers from East Sunshine serve at Crosslines every month through their emergency food pantry.  This is not only a great service to those who are in need, but also an excellent way to demonstrate the unity in Christ we desire as we partner with many other churches and denominations across the city.

Camp Barnabas

Every summer the East Sunshine Youth, as well as many adults, volunteer at a camp for people with disabilities called Camp Barnabas, just a short distance from Springfield.  Anyone one who has worked at camp will tell you that the blessing is ours, not the campers!

Camp Barnabas' website defines their purpose as follows: Camp Barnabas exists to provide awesome, life-changing opportunities to people who have been robbed of them by disability or disease. Each summer we offer acceptance and love to more than 1,300 campers with special needs, empowering them to live lives of ability. Through adaptive activities, we allow people with physical and mental disabilities and other medical challenges to be participants, not observers, in the world around them.

Fair Haven Children's Home

East Sunshine Church has partnered with this wonderful ministry for many years.  In addition to monthly financial support, many members volunteer at the home's primary fund-rasing effort Thrift Haven, a general merchandise thrift store here in Springfield.  For more information, visit their website.
